Olga Dunayeva was born in Moscow, Russia, into a family of artists. Her first teacher was her father; her first critic was her mother. It is well known that our most severe critics are those closest to us. That meant that Olga had to work very hard.
From 1979 to 1984 Olga studied at the prestigious Moscow Stroganov University of Art, from which she graduated with a degree in graphics and design. Prior to her university studies, she spent two years studying drawing and painting with private instructors.
After graduating Olga worked as an illustrator for popular magazines and publishing houses; and taught drawing, painting and composition at the Moscow School of Art. She participated in numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Her works are in private collections in Russia, Yugoslavia, France, England, Japan and the United States.
Olga works in various media - acrylic, oil, pencil and watercolor - but her works share elegance, romanticism and lightness. Olga's beautiful and refined figures - with a romantic sadness in their eyes - touch the viewer's soul. This is especially true of her watercolors. On thick sheets of paper Olga reveals the beauty of Venice, Adriatic cities, cute fairies and delightful children.
The works here presented especially display her talent as an illustrator.
Olga is a member of the International Union of Artists and the Maryland Federation of Art. She lives and works in the United States of America.
